UPCOMING EVENTS:
May 5 at 1:30 p.m.
THE GROWN-UP PUPPET SHOW: AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME
Punch and Judy, move over.  Your eternal marital strife (played to moppets, yet) gets its comeuppance from the San Diego Guild of Puppetry, our new cultural partner in the "Arts and Music" series at Lee.  The Guild will debut its work-in-progress, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by the great American humorist, James Thurber, in the Lee House on May 5 at 1:30 p.m.
Brainchild of the prolific Guild director, Lynn Jennings, grown-up puppet shows, such as the new Goldilocks: The  Nursing Home Version (coming to Lee this fall), deal with aging, happiness, work, marriage and other adult concerns. By the way, our special puppet shows are a princely $2 for everyone.  Bring a friend!

MAY 21, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
LEMON GROVE COMMUNITY FESTIVAL    DAY
The parade is at 10 a.m. and the festivities are from 11 - 6 p.m. in Civic Center Park between Olive and Main Streets with the gorgeous Parsonage and Lee House as a backdrop.  Come for picnics, music, games and events for the whole family. The Historical Society will run a puppet-making workshop for ages 6 - 10 in the Gazebo Courtyard behind the H. Lee House.  Fun for all!

ON DISPLAY IN THE PARSONAGE MUSEUM OF LEMON GROVE
"The Kumeyaay:  At Home in the World"
Beautiful murals depict the  world of the Kumeyaay in Lemon Grove in 12,000 B.C. when vast sweeps of oak savannah and a river dominated the area. The coming of the Spanish conquistadors and the Catholic hierarchy in the mid-18th century is drama-tically portrayed.  Century-old artifacts, along
with photographs of a leading contemporary Kumeyaay family flank the life size figures.
Created by our artists-in-residence,
Kathleen Strzelecki and
Janne LaValle, the murals are unique among museum exhibits in San Diego
County.

"The Art of The Treganzas"
Hammered copper and brass artifacts, paintings and drawings, and Arts and
Crafts furniture created between 1906 - 1935 by this pioneer Lemon Grove
family whose members also won renown in architecture, optometry and anthropology.

"Lemon Grove: 1892 - 1935"
The homes and families of pioneer fruit growers are shown in rare photographs, along with artifacts, in this colorful, informative display
that details the agricultural roots of the town and the beauty of the landscape at the turn of the century. Call
619-460-4353 for more information.
